ABOUT
We are a student/research group from ISU working on the topic of public participation with regards to the future of the City of Ames. We are using a photo and description method called Photovoice to learn more about the neighborhood and the residents. The plan is to determine what will get residents involved with the ideas and issues that impact their neighborhood.
WHAT IS PHOTOVOICE?
Photovoice is an innovative approach to social science research that combines photographic images and participants' explanations and to document social issues. Individuals use images to capture aspects of their environment and experiences to share them with others. The photos can then be used together with captions or brief descriptions composed by the photographers, to bring the realities of the photographers to the public and policymakers.
